Information

  • About NSS

The National Service Scheme was started to establish a meaningful linkage between the campus and the community. Therefore, student youth, teachers and the community are considered the three basic components of the National Service Scheme. The overall aim of National Service Scheme is to give an extension dimension to the higher education system and orient the student youth to community service while they are studying in educational institution. Therefore it is necessary to arouse the social conscience of the students, and to provide them an opportunity to work with the people in the villages and slums.

  • Objectives

The broad objectives of NSS are to:

    • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.
    • Develop a sense of social and civic responsibility.
    • Utilize the knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.
    • Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.
    • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
    • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
    • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disaster.

  • Vision & Mission

    Vision:

To reflect the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students develop appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration to '/other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrined in this motto, which underlines/on the belief that the welfare .of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.

    Mission:

To inculcate social welfare in students, and to provide service to society without bias. NSS volunteers work to ensure that everyone who is needy gets help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity. In doing so, volunteers learn from people in villages how to lead a good life despite a scarcity of resources. it also provides help in natural and man-made disasters by providing food, clothing and first aid to the disaster victims.

  • The Motto

. The motto or watchword of the National Service Scheme is : ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’. This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other person’s point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society on the whole. Therefore, it should be the aim of the NSS to demonstrate this motto in its day-to-day programme.
